Writing a Facebook Note

Me: "I am trying to find a good note to do on facebook, do you know one?

Kira: "Why don't you just blog?"

Me: Silence.

Now Me: Blogging.

Looks like my wife does have some powerful hold over me. Maybe its the way that she looks in those new skinny Jeans. Or maybe its how she looked when she walked in to hang out with me when I was on my break today. One way or another, I will do just about anything she says. In fact, often times, I feel myself compelled to do things when she just mentions them. I think that it must be some sort of mind control thing that women have... She says "Look at all this laundry I have to do!" And I hear "Tim, you should do the laundry."

My mother had the same power once. My mom's power was different though. Once Mom was out of the picture, I was allowed to blow things up and walk down raging rivers, so long as she never knew (Now she knows because Kira tells her whenever I, in complete confidence, let stories of old times come out.) With Kira, though, I want her to more than like me when things are over. I want the extra benefits that come with being married to a total hottie! So, when she isn't around, I find myself doing even MORE things that she hasn't really implied that I should do.

Anyway, I don't know what the point of this blog really is. I WAS going to write a really cool note on facebook, and maybe someday I will. But for now, anyone that is still out there gets to read this blog. Later, Ya'll!

Things Are Gonna Change!

So, I am graduating, and that means a lot of change in my life.... Sometime. But I am thinking about some new resolutions that I am going to start right now. You know, like some new years resolutions, but these will be different because there are actually lots of changes going on in my life, instead of just the numbers of the year changing.
One thing that I am totally excited about is that Kira and I are both going to start working out, and that will be sweet! We are going to be living in IF, so anyone that wants to join us is welcome, for those of you that we will be close to again.

Another thing that I am going to start doing is writing in my journal. I have a really nice one that I can start fresh in, and I was thinking about how I can keep myself writing in it constantly, and I decided that I will keep it with me when I can. For instance, for the next month or so, it will be in the bag that I take to school, and I will write in it while I am there. I think its important for me, even if I only write a few things about my day or whatever, to be consistent in my journal because then when things come up that are really important, I will be able to keep those things and pass them on to my little girl, Anna, and any of my other children.

Speaking of Anna, we had a blast the last couple of weeks, going to the Hogle Zoo, to IF, and to the Salt Lake Aquarium. Here are some pictures!

Kira found a really cool hat at the zoo. A few actually, and we had some fun trying them on. She looked really hot in this one.

So, we found this new ice cream place across from The Edwards in IF, and it was really cool to watch them make our ice cream. They pour the mixture for whatever kind of ice cream you want (custard, fat free, regular, etc.) into a metal mixing bowl, then add in your ingredients, and then they use some freezing agent to freeze your ice cream while they mix it. SO fun to watch, as steam flows all over. The ice cream was good, but Coldstone's tastes better, so you go here for the show. Also, its a little more pricey than Coldstone even, so this is one of those places that you should really just go to once to see it done, and then Coldstone is the choice from then on.

Anna loves to watch the FISH! But she still isn't saying her F's so instead of "fish" she just says "Sh!" But she got really excited and LOVED the aquarium. There were SH all over, and she got to watch them all, big and small!

Ok, so the octopus was basically sweet looking and it was giving us a show, moving all over the place. That was cool.

The sharks were in a giant bowl with magnifying glass, so it looked like they were right there in front of us. It was so cool! Also, I don't have the picture here, bit in the same room, we got to reach down into the water and touch a stingray! They were cool feeling, like they had a super soft furry coat! Not what I expected. That was fun, and Kira even tried it. I didn't know if she would.

Kira's favorite sandwich place. I love her. She loves these sandwiches. I love any sandwiches. So, therefore, I love to go to this place. It is at the This is the Place Monument, where Sam and Jess got engagged to be marred, so that is pretty cool too. And right now they have a buy one get one free thing going on so through April, if you go there and say you saw their ad in the student newspaper, then you get that deal! Pretty sweet! I am a fan! (Their Kaiser rolls are the bomb diggity!)

Sorry Peeps! Still Here!

I can't even keep all of my followers. I am thinking that when I graduate and am done with school for a while, I will be more into writing on my blog, but you never know. I will probably do some more book reviews and such, so watch out! I am looking forward to reading some more, that is for sure!
As for now, I am just really into playing with my girls in my freetime and doing work and homework when I have to, so the blog has been going by the wayside a little. Sorry all! But I am thinking that I will do another Recipe soon. Last time, I said that I would do my London Broil Recipe. I will think about that, but I think that I want to work on it more before I pull that. Maybe I will do our Juicy Roast Turkey, Gravy, and Potatoes and follow that by my own special Turkey Rice (It rocks, I am warning you!) For now, just keep following and I will try to keep you posted on my graduation progress. (Two months left!)

Kira, will you be my Valentine?

This is Tim. So, I was looking around for a good survey to do for Valentine's day about Kira, but I didn't find hardly anything that was good enough to be for her, so I decided to write one myself. I had to post it early because I have to get an answer from the title before Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's Day Kiry!

1 Who is your Valentine this year?

Kira Jo Cannon!

2. Have you had a Valentine with this person before? If so, what were the others like?

Yep. This one will be my FOURTH! Last year, we spent two hours driving across town in a blizzard to get to Godfathers for their dinner buffet, and while we were driving, I looked up and thought "I wonder what would happen if I opened the sun roof?" And I did, and we got a pile of snow in our laps. So, that was pretty cool. And two years ago, we celebrated early and went to The Roof for dinner. Three years ago, WE GOT ENGAGED at Texas Roadhouse with our good friends Sam and Jessica.

3. What is your favorite memory with this person?

I would say childbirth, or our wedding, because they were both very happy times for us, and we both loved them, but I think that I build new favorite moments with Kira every day. Right now, my favorite moment with her is last night when I woke up and moved and she grabbed onto me to make sure I stayed close to her. I love moments like that.

4. What is the most fun thing you have done with this person recently?

For her birthday, I planned out the entire day. It was so much fun for me because I didn't tell her anything we were going to do and the whole day I was excited for her to find out the next thing that would happen. It was truly a great day for me, and I hope for her too.

5. What does she do a lot that you love?

Oh, so many things! One thing is that she always has something cool to tell me. She is always coming up with stories and fun things to say. Sometimes the stories are made up and I have to find out for myself whether it is true or not, but usually the fake stories are funny and crazy or they end with a violent death of the main character. I like action movies, so I find it very enjoyable. Another thing she does is that I will be just sitting around doing my thing, and she will decide that she wants to demand my attention, so she will run up and straddle me, making me focus only on her. She thinks that she is bothering me, but I would like nothing better than to focus every moment on her. I guess these could be broken down into more questions, but I like the longer answers. Haha!

6. What is different about her than any other girl that you know?

Other than how she is the best book reader alive? (You know what I mean, girl!) Well, I would say that she also has the most intriguing eyes! I love them! I get totally entranced by them, and she will get angry at me for staring at her, but really I am just totally hooked. I love it! You know, when I first met Kira, she had in these bright blue contacts, and they kind of did not fit her very well. I could tell that they were not natural, but I never told her about it until later. But they were not my favorite. I fell in love with her before she changed contacts, so she knows that her eyes are not the reason I fell in love with her, but I could possibly say that they are my favorite feature of her body!

7. What was the first thing you noticed about her?

When I walked into her work and saw her standing there, she looked up at me and said "Oh, I forgot you were coming!" But I was already not paying attention. Her smile was fabulous, like the kind of smile that everyone wishes they could wake up to every morning! Its the kind of smile that makes me want to do things every minute that will make me able to see that smile all the time, like I was doing on her birthday. It is the most gorgeous smile in the world, and I want to see it every day of my life! I could possibly say that it is my favorite feature of her body!

8. Where is the place that you want to take her more than anywhere else?

Now this is a really tough question, cause there are so many places that I would love to go that she would not, but I think that this one is really about both of us getting out and having a blast. I am thinking that if I could take her anywhere I wanted for one full week, I would take her to New York City. We would stay at the Marriott hotel on Times Square, which is right where 7th and Broadway meet. We would walk around town and see all the sights that we could possibly see, like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. I would take her to a show that I think she would enjoy, and take her to some nice places to eat. I think it would be the best vacation of our lives.

9. What is something that few people know that she should be proud of?

Kira is a goal setter. She finds something that she wants to do and she makes it happen. That is the sign of a very strong person, and I love that about her. For instance, after she was pregnant, she was determined to fit back into the Lucky Jeans she wore in high school, but she was thinking that it would be really tough. Well, after about six months, she was back in her jeans. AMAZING! And now, she is even in a size smaller, wearing a new pair of jeans that I hope she loves just as much! Her body is smokin hot, and something that she could totally be proud of. I am thinking that the smokin hotness and perfect shape of her body could be my favorite feature of her body!

10. What is one thing that you want to tell her so that she will never forget?

I love you! Every day when you wake up, I want you to have the feeling that I love you and I want it to make your day better. I love when you beg me to stay with you, even when I can't. If I could stay with you all the time, I totally would. In fact, right now we are in different rooms and I am sick of it! I am finishing this right now so we can be back together again! I love you Kira, and I hope that you will answer yes when I ask you: Will you be my Valentine? I love you!

Love,

Timmy

Make a Bad Steak OK

Ok, Kira tells me that I should share some of my cooking talent with everyone, so I think that I will just try to bring out the best of what I have once in a while so everyone might try, so this is not everything this time. I will post recipes once in a while, just like many other people do. Firstly, just know that I love to cook and mostly I just like to know how to cook things... like random things. So, sometimes these food blogs will be about something new that I learned to cook and little tricks here and there and sometimes they will be actual recipes that I like and sometimes mixtures of the two. Finally, I DO know all those wonderful OG recipes, but I cannot share them. I am sorry. But maybe some of the tricks I learned there will be included sometimes.

So, first off, Kira warned everyone about my steak cooking skills. Well, mostly, I just love cooking on the grill, but Kira and I do not have one, so when I am trying to cook steak, I have to resort to lesser means. So, mostly this is for anyone who doesn't have a grill. Also, I will give tips on the London Broil.
When I am coming up with recipes, by the way, I have no qualms with looking things up on the internet on how other people do them, but I rarely follow their recipes, probably because I have my own little talents, so you might think about that, cause everyone knows something that they like and might be good at that they can work into other recipes.

A couple of weeks ago, Kira was out of town and I went shopping and I found a sweet deal where I could get steak buy one get one free, so I did, knowing that it was of the cheaper variety of steak (but Albertsons cheap, not Wal*Mart. I won't buy their meat.) So, I had to use my little tactices for how to cook a poor steak on the stovetop.
First off, make a rub. Mix together spices that you like, and don't be afraid to try new ones because this is cheap steak you are working with and it helps to find a rub you like so that when you make not cheap steak later, it will be just that much better. I tend to like onion salt and cumin on my steak, along with a good amount of ground pepper. I add a few other things here and there too. It never hurts to marinate your steak, but I won't include that here. So, first get your steak marinated and rubbed (both optional).
To actually start cooking your steak, heat your pan (empty) on medium heat and then when it is hot zig-zag some olive oil onto it. Wait a half minute. Then add your steak. (Careful, cause the oil is hot!) Usually when cooking with oil on the stove you want to heat the pan and then the oil before adding your food. It works SO much better that way. You can always know if your oil is hot by dipping one finger in water and flicking it at your pan. If hot, you will know, but stand back when you do it. The biggest problem with cooking steak on the stovetop is that it is hard to get the steak to cook through. If you like it rare, then this is not a problem, but my wife likes hers well done and burned is not an option, so I have to cover the steak for a minute or so to let it cook through. After adding the steak to the pan, zig zag a little more oil across the top of the steak and let it sit until you flip it. When you flip it depends on how you like it, but it is crucial that you not pok or jab your steak, especially with cheap steak. Poking steak is a good way to make it tough. Once flipped, cook the steak to however you like it. If you like temps, then here:
Well done, >145; med 130-140; and rare <120. Or pretty close to that. Depends on how thick your steak and such.
Hope this works for people. Feel free to comment on advice and things or whether you try it out. This helps get started on my London Broil recipe, which is really good and improving all the time. I will master it soon, hopefully. I will put that in another post. Thanks!

First Kiss!

So, I was talking to Kira earlier, and we agreed that I should share my experience of our first kiss. She thinks that I should blog more, so she is always trying to come up with good ideas for me to write about and I always deny her, cause I get sick of writing all the time for school. However, I really did like this idea and sometimes, I just get in the mood, so this will actually be my second blog today.

So, first off, it took me a lot of diligence and time to get Kira to go on a date with me, which is understandable, considering the circumstances. You don't often see a girl with gorgeous eyes and a perfect body with a guy that has spent the last couple years getting fat and wierd looking. But eventually, I convinced her with old pictures and stuff that I had some potential at least so we met up and had this sweet date, and things went from there. So, then a couple of weeks later, we went to her cousin's wedding reception and had a fun night and I wanted to kiss her really bad, but I was nervous because she had told me how she was not afraid to deny guys kisses, and this was how we talked about kissing. So, my future of kissing her did not look so bright. Not to mention that she had never kissed anyone before. Anyway, by the end of the date, I was as nervous as i had ever been to kiss a girl, and I was walking her to her door, not sure that I could build up the courage, and I gave her a hug and she turned and walked away. BUT... after she had taken a couple of steps, I was like "Wait..." and I pulled her back and I kissed her. And LET ME TELL YOU... she was good. Its still hard for me to believe that she had never kissed a guy before because she is a natural. I love kissing this girl, and it has always been amazing! In fact, on my way home, I called my best boy Sammy and told him all the good news, and who would have known it... 50 weeks later, Kira and I were married. Sweet story.

I got this book from my sister for Christmas, and figured it would be a fun, easy read before the school year starts, and I was totally right. It was fun. It was easy. In fact, altogether I read the whole thing in probably about four hours of reading time. Not really sure. It could have been a little longer than that, but I am not a fast reader in the first place; I try to take my time. The book was funa nd easy and very entertaining. A great read for a summer day in a hammock or for a rainy day inside. The tale Brandon Mull has spun could continue on and it does... three more books in the series! And I will be reading the second book soon.
